Every neighbourhood in Liverpool to have its own Family Hub

The number of Family Hubs in Liverpool will more than double as the city council looks to establish a hub in every neighbourhood.

There are currently five Family Hubs in Liverpool, but the council has now agreed to expand this number to twelve, ensuring every community can access a hub close to home.

Building on the well-established strengths of Liverpool’s Children’s Centres, a Family Hub is a place where all families with children and young people aged 0-19 (or 25 if the young person has special educational needs or disabilities) can access coordinated support, information, advice, and activities.

The next Family Hub to be established will be based at what is now Kensington Children’s Centre and will launch with a special event for the whole community.

The event will take place on Wednesday 19 November from 10am – 2pm, with a range of activities available as well as a range of partners offering information, advice, and support to families.

Activities will include Jumping Jacks, Rhythm and Rhyme, SENsory stay and play (SWAN) and more. Food and refreshments will also be provided. There’s no need to book, families can just drop in.

The remaining new Family Hubs are scheduled to open their doors over the coming weeks and months and further details of those launches will be announced by the council soon.

Cllr Joanne Kennedy, Cabinet Member for Employment, Educational Attainment & Skills at Liverpool City Council, said: “Our ambition is that every neighbourhood in Liverpool can access their own Family Hub, and this expansion means that we’re now delivering that.

“Family Hubs are there to ensure families can find a multitude of resources and activities designed to support their health, education, and wellbeing, in a supportive environment.

“Please come and visit us for a morning of fun on the 19 November at the Kensington Children’s Centre to find out more about the services available at the Family Hub. I look forward to seeing everyone there and kickstarting this latest rollout of Family Hubs in Liverpool.”
