Liverpool City Council is pleased to announce the appointment of a new nursing care provider to deliver exceptional support for residents at Millvina Nursing Home in Anfield and Brushwood Nursing Home in Speke.
Following a thorough and competitive tender process, a 12-month contract has been awarded to Primary Care 24 (PC24).
Their innovative ideas and person-centred approach align with the Council’s vision for the future of Adult Social Care. PC24 will officially begin operations this week, ensuring a smooth transition for residents and staff.
The Council took over the management of the homes last year, with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust providing nursing care after the previous provider chose to withdraw.
Mersey Care later informed the Council that it would not continue its nursing care service beyond May 2025, prompting the process of appointing a new provider.
PC24’s proposal stood out for its high quality, strong understanding of the local care landscape, and clear commitment to working collaboratively with the Council to enhance the lives of residents.
Councillor Angela Coleman, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services, said:
“We’re really pleased to be appointing Primary Care 24 (PC24) as the new nursing care provider for Millvina and Brushwood care homes.
“PC24 has a strong track record of delivering high-quality, person-centred care, and we’re confident they will be a fantastic partner in supporting our residents and staff.
“We are continuing to engage with staff, families, and residents, and want to reassure everyone that we are working closely with both Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and PC24 to ensure a smooth and well-managed transition.”
Liverpool City Council Deputy Chief Executive and Corporate Director of Adult Care and Health said:
“This is an exciting and significant step forward in strengthening nursing care across Liverpool’s care homes.
“PC24’s expertise makes them exceptionally well-suited to delivering high-quality, compassionate care for our residents.
“I sincerely thank Mersey Care for their invaluable support, as well as all staff, residents, and families for their patience and commitment as we move forward together.”
Dave Horsfield, Chief Executive for Primary Care 24, said: “We are thrilled that Primary Care 24 has been selected as the new nursing care provider at Brushwood and Millvina House Nursing Homes.
“We are looking forward to working closely with Liverpool City Council to ensure residents receive the highest quality care and to support a smooth transition for all involved.”
