Winter events to bring warmth and support to Liverpool

People who live in Liverpool are being offered the chance to learn more about the support available to help them stay warm and healthy this winter.

Liverpool City Council’s Healthy Homes team will be hosting the Winter Warmer event, where people can hear from a range of organisations and experts about topics such as energy efficiency, heating your home, fuel poverty, healthy eating, social/lifestyle information, benefits, emergency fuel, and food payments, and tackling debt.

The event is completely FREE to attend and will be held at the Hilton Hotel on Thomas Steers Way next Friday (28 November) from 10am-1pm.

There will also be free food packs with recipes provided by Zero Waste and winter warmer items with hot water bottles, wearable blankets, and thermal vests available for those who need them (while stocks last).

Benefit maximisation and health checks will be running throughout the event to make sure people are receiving all the support they’re entitled to.

The Healthy Homes team will also attend a number of events across the city over the coming weeks to help people stay warm at home this winter. These events, hosted by partners, include:

  • Thursday 27 November, 11am-1pm, Hope Centre, Tuebrook
  • Friday 5 December, time TBC, West Everton Community Council
  • Wednesday 10 December, 10am-3pm, Kenny Dalglish Stand, Anfield

Councillor Laura Robertson-Collins, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “It’s been a mild autumn, but temperatures are starting to dip and we know that the winter months can be difficult for many people.

“These events are a great opportunity for people to find out how to heat their homes as efficiently as possible and to check that they’re receiving all the support they need to stay warm and healthy over the coming months. “No-one should have to struggle alone, and we hope that these events will give people a helping hand.”
