Work to tackle health deprivation discussed by Health and Wellbeing Board

The Health and Wellbeing Board has considered the latest deprivation scores for Liverpool and the impact on the health of residents.

A total of 11 per cent of the city is statistically described as ‘severely critical’ for health compared to the rest of England, with alcohol and substance misuse, lifestyle and mental health issues among the most prevalent.

Members were also told how the council is working with the NHS on a neighbourhood model of working to improve the lives of local residents with other partners including housing associations and local voluntary and community groups, as well as councillors.

A presentation was also given about work on a ‘test and learn’ programme with the government on neighbourhood health services, family hubs and helping more people into work, which also includes a neighbourhood health model for children and young people to tackle respiratory health.

Members also endorsed the Liverpool Neurodiversity Strategy 2025 – 2035 which was recently approved by Cabinet.
